my momma told me there would be days like this...

WOW...was today one of those days... for sure! Background Info: For those of you that don't know I work for a children's clothing company...BBTN and Favorite Laundry... two companies... same place... one is a trunk show company and one is a retail store... same building... separated by a brown canvas "wall". A job I truly love because I am constantly working with children's clothing which is probably my favorite past time. Today I was working by myself. My typical day would go something like this... work on entering in orders, filling orders, packing orders, or shipping orders for BBTN.. usually a different task each day. And when the very "loud" door dinger chimes I suddenly "appear" on the other side of the brown curtain to help a customer in the store. So today I was working on filling orders on "the wall" and the unthinkable happened... Let me help paint you a mental picture of the situation... Our "wall" which has 4 sets of shelves that are about 30 feet long and are about 7 feet tall which hold all our orders and inventory. We feel orders as items come in and stack them on top of each other. We "go back through the wall" several times filling orders b/c the clothes are coming from 4 different manufactures basically. So I am standing on a "ladder"aka bar stool going through the orders on the top shelve... keep in mind the three other shelves below me are full of orders and inventory too... I lift up an order stick an item in the order and all of a sudden.... WHAM.... the top shelve falls... into the next shelf... and makes it fall... into the next shelf... and makes it fall... it was like domino's... ALL the fully loaded shelves with nice, neat stacks of orders that had been filled ALL CAME TUMBLING DOWN... INTO A BIG PILE OF CLOTHES... There for a moment time stood still and my mouth was gaping open... here i am standing on the ball stool looking down (at all our hard work) at a big pile of clothes and shelves all on top of each other... I immediately start scrambling trying to "salvage" all the orders that I could and then I realized this was nothing I was going to be able to do by myself... which in turn means Ashley (boss lady, owner, etc) gets the dreaded phone call... it goes something like this... uh Ashley got some bad news... I am not kidding when I say that all the shelves on "the wall" feel to the ground... uh ok i will be right there... and when she gets there... i am sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by clothes and shelves... laughing to keep from crying... this is what it looked like... well as much as I could fit in the picture... this is the picture i took and sent her just so she could really see how bad it was... however, on the bright side... two hours later we had it all back up on the shelves with about 50 extra supports to help hold it! You know one thing about this job is that it is constantly changing I usually don't do the same thing everyday or every week... and I must say if I don't ever have to put a "fallen wall" back together that we have ABSOLUTELY just fine with me and I am sure the others would agree as well! ha! happy tuesday! I sure am glad God has a since of humor... b.c this was reaalll funny! ;)
