Egg-stra Special...

It's Easter time around here... following with tradition we have dyed our easter eggs for the year! It is always fun to see what all they create. Check out the master pieces! So this year I have really been thinking about the "commercial" side of Easter I don't want my children get all wrapped up in the bunnies, chocolate, and easter baskets and not understand the true meaning of Easter! Just the other day brylee said she was so excited about Sunday b.c of the easter egg hunt at herold and nancy's... she was going on and on about it. It really hit home b.c I want her (and jackson too) to be excited about Easter b.c it is a time we celebrate Jesus dying on the cross, rising from the dead, and the pain and suffering He went through for us. So after we died eggs I decided I would make Darby's Resurrection Cookies in hopes that they would "get" the real meaning of Easter. So I get the cookie stuff ready, the recipe, Richard is reading all the verses (from the children's Bible) and the further we go the more "confused" they get... they are looking at us like we have 10 heads... not b.c they have never heard THE STORY but they were just not getting it... mommy's making cookies and daddy is reading the Bible???They were more interested in licking the batter and why the cookies did not have chocolate. We were sinking FAST... So we finished the cookies and they went outside while I mixed them up... kept mixing, not looking like darby's... mix more... nothing... needless to say I did something wrong and our Resurrection Cookies... looked like this... in the garbage... not white and fluffy... (fyi mix all the stuff together and then add the pecans... yeah the cookies want turn white and fluffy and peek with pecan in there) so needless to say we SUNK! Thank goodness for Toll House Brownie Bites... and guess what... Jesus still died on the cross for our sins and rose again even when Resurrection Cookies don't work and brownie bites do! There you have it... Resurrection Cookies the Powers way! PS: this is so my luck... funny how the commercial side of easter is fool proof... no problems dying eggs or finding goodies to fill an easter basket...but not the "real side"... you got to be "ready"... the devil is working over time! :)
